As part of Filmlab Palestine's efforts to develop filmmakers' capabilities and promote the film industry in Palestine, Filmlab Palestine, in partnership with Ramallah Doc, hosted a specialized workshop in Film Production from July 15-18, 2016. The workshop was led by renowned producer Marc Baschet.
The aim of the workshop was to familiarize participants with the essential role of a film producer, covering the various stages of production. It provided an in-depth understanding of what a producer does throughout the filmmaking process, from script development to film distribution. The workshop also focused on the distribution process and the relationship between the producer and distributor, offering valuable insights into the broader landscape of film production.
Marc Baschet, an experienced producer with a career spanning TV films, series, and feature films, brought a wealth of knowledge to the workshop. He had already gained significant recognition for his work on No Man's Land, which won an Oscar, and as a nominee for Before the Rain. His recent productions included The Lunchbox by Ritesh Batra, which gained international acclaim after its success at the Cannes 2013 Critics' Week, and Albüm by Mehmet Can Mertoglu, a film from Turkey that won the "Revelation Award" at the Critics' Week that year.
